There is so much old school drama in a red lippy. I can't help but think of the vamps and damsels in series like Agatha Christie's Poirot or Miss Marple. People tend to stare an awful lot when they see bold colours on the lips. I plucked up the courage to wear red and I can tell you that I loved it. The amount of double-takes I had and the long stares was quite funny. It needn't be red of course, it could be a vibrant pink but whatever colour one chooses to wear it is a punch in the face. It is a demonstration of confidence and personality and I think the reason people stare is because it's refreshing. There is also something irresistible and hypnotic with red lips. Take Angelina Jolie for an instance. Yes, naturally she has big and luscious lips but when she wears red she add sophistication and class to those big and luscious lips. Lips are supposed to be one of the sexiest features on the face so do what you can with them to lure people in. Make them them focal point and go bold.

The thing about brows is...
The thing about brows is that they frame your face and it doesn't matter what else you might do to your face (ie. makeup) if your brows are not shaped to suit your face you might as well go out with a brown paper bag over your head. The eyebrows are your key accessory because with them you can say a lot. So much of your facial expressions depend on the brows and if you've over plucked them and they no longer sit on your forehead then you've got a problem. Try sitting in front of a mirror and pull a face. Try a sad face, now a happy face, and now an angry face. You will find that all the faces you pull are 50% dependant on your eyebrows being there. It's your eyebrows that tell the world how you're feeling! It's not just that of course, you need to work with your eyebrows to make them look their best. If you have full eyebrows then leave them that way. They are like that for a reason! Tidy them up if you will but don't get rid of it all. There is so much drama in the face when eyebrows are full and groomed. For example, Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz and Jennifer Connelly have got it right.
My French Girl Crush
My name is Helena
I had the pleasure of seeing Helen Bonham-Carter and fell in love with her style. It really is a style of her own and I have at times tried to emulate it. It's a hint of magic, rock'n'roll and England. Or at least those are the few things her style makes me think of.
Peacock Blue
Ok, so I was browsing the Internet and stalking Emma Watson (as you do when you're bored) when I found this picture of her. And I fell in love with the colour combination of her clothes. The aubergine and peacock blue compliment each other so well, it made me think of old jewels. The sort you might find in your grandmother's trinket box. They are colours that I feel would look gorgeous against the miserable autumn grey that is coming up. Team the colours up with that little bit of glitz to add glamour and sophistication to your look!
On My Way To School
Ok, so this is pretty much how I was working it whilst at Uni. It was casual, comfortable withouth losing style. As the years went on and work got a little more serious and the load got that little bit more I settled for less jewellery (they just got in the way of writing all my clever ideas down!). I ended up making things simpler for myself in terms of clothes as can be seen in "Just One Of Those Days". Nevertheless, make-up was always on the cards and the effort was always made my face! x

If I Were A Boy
If I had a more boyish figure like those model girls, I'd happily dress masculine if I could pull it off. Unfortunely for me, I carry female baggage ie. boobs 'n' things! x
